Do you want to consider it’s merits, or otherwise, in isolation from the artist’s influence?
We believe that what you see in a piece may well be different from the our view.

With this in mind, we give you the opportunity here to view our prints prior to knowing any of our views. We initially present the title of the work and the bare bones of the physical aspects of a print. When (if) you are interested in our views about the work or the story of it’s creation, then this can be seen by clicking on the plus sign (+) next to “What we see in the print” panel.

We trust that you will understand and appreciate our thinking behind doing this. Your views of our work is of interest to us – why not drop us a message with your thoughts! We’d love to hear from you…

Strangely, Wheat #2 is actually of an earlier stage of growth than print Wheat #1! Here, the protective cover around the maturing wheat head, or ‘leaf’, it has been caught between opening out to reveal the wheat kernels and has yet to fold downwards out of the way.

That is our sort of botanical explanation. Which in itself is a good enough reason to print a photograph.

To us, though, these look like two thin City of London gents, passing the time of day with each other. I think that they would have been from when the City was populated by ‘proper’ chaps rather than more modern times – all pin-stripe suits and cut glass accents… but we digress! Are they actually gesticulating at each other, each trying to push their point of view? Or are the leaves like collars on their raincoats?

Hmm, we never said that our view of our photographs necessarily makes any sense to any one else. Sometimes our thoughts and interpretations can change depending on our mood! This is one of the major reasons why we have give you the option to view our prints before knowing what our thoughts are. You can make your own interpretation free from any influence of our imagination, which is probably a good thing!

Anyhoo… moving swiftly along – we printed the photograph in our darkroom on silver gelatin paper. We chose the gloss warmtone with a selenium toning after processing. The image size is 7½” x 7½” in an archival 12” x 10” presentation mount.
